About the Ranch
This purebred cattle and horse ranch is located in the beautiful Mission Valley of Western Montana. The ranch has the reputation for being one of the most productive operations in the area with its seedstock cattle gaining International recognition and its Cow Bred Performance Horses enjoy Nationwide acceptance being marketed through the ranches site, At an elevation of 3000 ft. it enjoys very mild winters and awesome summers. Just five miles to the east the Mission Mountain Range climb 7000 ft. from the valley floor to an alpine elevation of 10,000 ft making for breathtaking views.
Numerous visitors, including several from Switzerland have said that the ranches scenery is the most beautiful they have ever seen.
The Ranch consists of 120 deeded acres; all tillable and under irrigation. The ranch currently leases an additional 2,184 acres of Federal and private hay and grazing land. The ranches deeded acres are in high quality forage production with hay yields up to 6 ton per acre.
The improvements are many with high quality fences, corrals, waters, and barns. The main stable has a 2,000 sq. ft. 2 bedroom, 2 bath timber frame living quarters with also an additional cowboy apartment overlooking the calving corral which enables continuous monitoring. There is a separate building site with great mountain views and a two bedroom mobile home about ¼ mile from the main ranch site. The ranches streams and irrigation are fed by alpine snow melt, from only five miles away and 1 ½ miles up.
Unlimited horseback riding opportunities surround the ranch. Approximately 5 miles to the East are numerous trail heads to the Mission Mountain Wilderness, which connect to the Bob Marshall – America's largest wilderness area. Accessible only by horse, the Bob Marshall claims to have more than 1500 miles of marked horse trails.
8 miles southwest of the ranch are the Sand Hills of Moiese. The ranch has used the Sand Hills as a colt training area that gives a colt a tremendous amount of experience in a short time. This is also the spot where the Marlboro Commercials were filmed as well as John Wayne's first movie “The Big Trail”.
There is a new poured concrete basement at the main ranch site for a future 5000 sq. ft. Timber Frame or Log home that could be built to suit the buyer.
The pictured home is the intended home to be built, and the basement foundation was constructed to accommodate this home. Owner is a custom home builder that wishes to relocate nearer to their Big Sky Custom Home Construction Business.
